How do I notice a pattern I keep explaining away?
How do I notice a pattern I keep explaining away?
Catch the sentence you use every time. If the explanation is fluent and the result repeats, you are looking at a habit, not a series of exceptions.
What may actually be happening
You are skilled at context. Context is real. It can also be a curtain. The pattern is visible in the repetition: the same lateness, the same retreat, the same sharp line, across different people.
What you can do
Write the last three times. Ignore the unique details and keep the move you made. Choose an earlier cue: the time of day, the hunger, the audience. Interrupt at the cue once this week, not at the aftermath.
What not to do
Do not turn the observation into a diagnosis or a label you wear as fate. Do not confess it as a personality and then keep the move. Do not only study other people's patterns.
Try this today
Finish this sentence with something you have actually said: 'The reason it happened again is…' If you have finished it before, circle the verb that is yours.
